About the event

Prof. Zhu Yibing, an internationally renowned cellist and educator, is the leading Chinese cellist to win a major international competition. His father, Zhu Yongning, and mother, Wang Yaoling, were both among the first faculty members of the Central Conservatory of Music. Zhu Yibing is a close disciple of French maestro Maurice Gendron and graduated with first prize from the Conservatoire National Supérieure de Musique in Paris. He has served as principal cellist of the Basel Symphony Orchestra in Switzerland and the Bayerischer Rundfunk Orchestra in Germany, and is one of the six members of the Cologne Cello Philharmonic in Germany. He has taught at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and the Conservatoire National Supérieure de Musique in Paris, becoming the first Chinese professor in the institution's 230-year history.
